Free & Easy Taiwan - 7D6N Part 1/3 Cingjing, Hualien, May 2023

This will be another post about Taiwan.. And Yes, i visited Taiwan again in the same year.
Let me share where we went this time .
The weather was already quite warm as it is already end of spring.. so we decided to visit the mountainous area to enjoy the cold for abit.

We played the Taiwan Lucky draw at the airport, first time winning NT5,000!
Thanks Taiwan :D

Taiwan Lucky draw

We went directly to Taichung by HSR after that.
We stayed at Micro Hotel, right in the heart of Fengjia night market, one of Taichung's most famous night market!
It is really convenience, just a short walk to the night market area in Taichung~

The queue for a taxi is super long..

Finally reaches the hotel

Hotel for 1 night

Had this soy milk and some taiwanese 'breakfast' food for our supper !

Random supper place

Day 2 - Taichung to CingJing

Day 2 morning, we had breakfast at 春水堂 which was the origin of bubble milk tea.
Also stopped by the newly open Lalaport mall as well.
We hired a driver from day 2 onwards till Taipei.

Breakfast!

Next stop will be CingJing, it is about 2hours ride from Taichung city.
First stop in Cingjing is Green Green Grasslands (青青草原), As soon as you step onto the Green Green Grasslands, you’ll be greeted by hundreds of sheep grazing freely on the vast pastures. You can buy a bag of sheep feed and have a fun, up-close encounter with them.

Entrance of GreenGreen Grassland

Enjoy feeding the sheep

Cute right!

Great view, cooling weather!

Looks like somewhere in new zealand!

After Green Green grassland and skywalk, we stopped by a random tea shop.
They offered us to try many different kind of teas, until we cannot fall asleep at night haha..

Also had Zhi char styled dinner, it tastes really nice especially under the cooling weather and after 'some exercise' walking around the grassland and skywalk.

Love watching the clouds go by

Checked in our minsu that night, we stayed at:
Star villa , 天星
It was really comfortable and they even have a star viewing tour/lesson held at the roof that night
We really enjoy star gazing that night!

Our minsu

The room is huge

We spent quite awhile at the roof top for star gazing and trying to capture some nice shots of the starts.
Was lucky for the clear sky!!

This is the night sky from the roof top of our minsu

Nice star

really enjoyed this view!

You can even see the milk way

Next morning, we went to hehuanshan and after that to hualien.
Its a long drive from Cingjing to Hualien, but the ride was very scenic so it was worth it!
Managed to capture some really nice shots on the way to Hua lien, thanks to the nice weather!

After HehuanShan, we reached Hualien!
It was quite a long journey but for the Scenery it is really worth it though.

We stopped for a break at the container starbucks in Hualien

We took a break here

This is our minsu in Hualien, its quite big and we had the room facing the ocean!

The nice view from our room !

That night, we visited Dongdamen night market.
It was unusually quiet and there seems to be very less tourist in this night market..
We tried some food, but overall we think it is not so local anymore, the place has also been renovated and it is really clean now. Not the typical Taiwanese night market anymore.

Walked to the night market

The night market is quite peaceful and also clean (seems like renovated)

Not many tourists here too

We only ate the Fried Egg with Shrimp and the Rice noodle roll at the night market.
After that we went to another local restaurant for Porridge and egg soup which tastes much better i feel.

This is the end of Hualien day 4 ~ We'll start moving north tomorrow!

This is how i spent 3 full days in Taipei and my overall expenses for a 8 Days 7 Nights trip

We missed Taiwan alot, and its our first time back in Taipei after Covid! We took it slow and try to enjoy as much as possible.
As usual, we stayed at Ximending, which is a popular location to stay for tourists~~

Ximending

Day 1 in Taipei - Hot Spring, Shilin, Ximending

After checking in and storing our luggage, we went to the hot spring resort in Beitou.
Beitou is famous for its hot spring and there are many hot spring resort, public hot spring bath in this area.
We recommend you to try it when you visit Taipei!

We chose this particular resort because the pricing is reasonable and they have private room as welL!

Resort Name: SweetMe HotSpring Resort
It is conveniently located like 5 minutes from Xinbeitou station.

We selected the private onsen

It is really clean and nice

After the hot spring, we went to Shilin night market
It is the closest night market from Beitou!

A very nice Japanese styled house

Shilin night market was nice, it wasn't as crowded as last time, many stalls closed down due to lack of tourists. Hopefully it will recover really soon.

Enjoyed the Hao da chicken Cutlet!

Back at ximending after enjoying street food in Shilin~

We were just loitering around ximending, the shops closes quite late and they Donki opens 24h

This is quite nice!

Ximending was quite lively at night even after 10pm.
We were just enjoying ourselves, playing claw machines and shopping at Donki (24 hours store)

Still quite crowded after 10pm

Cute miniture version of the taiwanese drinks

This mochi is really nice !

Day 2 in Taipei - Fu Hang Soy milk, HuaShan 1914, Guang Hua digital plaza, Taipei Main Station, Ximending Hotpot

We had one of the famous breakfast here in taipei.
They sell Soy milk and various food like You tiao, Danbing (Egg pancake), Shao Bing etc..
The queue is always very long, and it is expected to queue for 30minutes or more but i feel that it is totally worth it.

Breakfast spot: 阜杭豆漿 , Fu Hang Soy Milk
MRT: ShanDao MRT Exit 3
Opening: 5.30 am - 12.30 pm , closed on Mondays

The queue was really long but moves quite fast

Managed to find a seat

Loving this kind of breakfast

Next stop, we walked to Huashan 1914 Creative Park which was nearby.
This place is quite interesting, The buildings here were constructed by the Japanese in 1914 as a sake plant and were later re-purposed as the Taihoku Winery.
There are many art galleries, cultural and creative stores, and exhibition here especially on weekends.
It is worth a visit if you like to see new exhibitions and creative stores~!
*We went on a weekday so it is very much less crowded though..

After that we walked to Taipei Main station, it was about 30-40 min walk . Since it was winter, weather is really nice for a walk and enjoying the city life.

nice to see a Xmas tree~

Went back to Ximending in the evening for hotpot dinner!
Hotpot is a must have in Taiwan, the quality of the meat and other ingredient are very fresh and i feel that it is totally worth the money!
We had 無老鍋 Wu lao guo for hotpot, this is an ala-carte hotpot, fresh and delicious ingredient!

Day 3 in Taipei - Taipei 101, 四四南村, Ichiran, Dihua street (CNY market)

In the morning, we visited Taipei 101 area, and walk to this small village (四四南村) which was previously a residential area in Taipei for the military personnel.
Now, cafes and restaurants has taken over the houses and the place has been renovated and it is considered an instagrammable spot! You can see the Taipei 101 from this area as well.

We spent some time taking photos around the area before walking back to Taipei 101.

Really love the vibes here

Another instagramable spot

There are some cafes here tooo!

A nice view of Taipei 101 from the village

So nice even without filters

Next stop will be for lunch, we had Ichiran ramen, which is a famous Japanese ramen chain.

Dropped by apple store first!@

Apple store near Ichiran

Similar to what they have in Japan

Enjoying a bowl of nice ramen in this cold weather

Since Lunar new Year is in mid January, the CNY market is already open early Jan.
We decided to visit the CNY market !
Before visiting, do check if the CNY market is open.

You can search for:
迪化街年货大街

The CNY market is not close to any MRT station, so we took a train to Daqiaotou MRT exit 2 and changed a bus.

The whole area was very crowded and the street are well decorated with the CNY's vibes.
Many street stalls are selling the Lunar new year goodies.

Cool 7-11 store

nice decos

crowd was building up

Making Black Sesame candy

There are many different types of candies

Walked towards the river, i think it is called the Tamsui riverside park area.
Opposite is the Sanchong district area.

This was our last night in Taipei.
It is not really touristy since we visited Taiwan many times, and would like to keep our itinerary light and enjoy what the locals really do with minimum tourist attractions.

Last but not least, i would like to share our expenses for our Taiwan trip in 2023.

Expenses for 8 Days 7 Nights in Taiwan per Pax (SGD)
